HYDROPONICS AMENABILITY EXPERIMENT

The SeEDEQUAL Initiative, (now transitioned into the Breeding for Tomorrow-Inclusive Delivery area of work ) is an integral part of Genetic Innovation in the One CGIAR Action Area. It is intended for a better CG/NARS breeding impact by focusing on delivering genetic gain of crops in farmers’ fields and an enhanced varietal turnover through formal and farmer-based seed delivery channels. The Work package 3 of seedequal is geared towards scaling and delivery of planting materials of vegetatively propagated crops through more efficient propagation methods for clean (EGS) production. As new improved varieties are released by Breeders, it becomes necessary to validate the performance in high ratio propagation systems. The study assessed variations in the performance of selected landraces, prior released and newly released improved yam varieties at different nutrient and substrate regimes in hydroponics propagation system.
