Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Field Tags and Labeling

Tags and labels are key in cowpea experimentations without which everything would be in a mess. Tags and labels help in keeping varietal identity and reduce the risk of mixing entries. It is, therefore, important that a good system for experimental labeling is devised. The cowpea breeding unit has migrated from traditional handwritten labels and tags to modern digital and barcoded labels. This shift comes with great advantages, especially in reduced errors, time saving and relative cost reduction. However, for this to work effectively, the protocols described in this SOP should be followed diligently.
